The purpose of this project is to promote the research and application of connecting precast small beams to main beams using shear connectors (hereafter referred to as “precast small beam-to-main beam connections”). This type of connection mainly relies on shear connectors to support the self-weight of the structure and construction loads, allowing for a reduction in the need for temporary supports during construction and greatly improving construction efficiency.
However, relevant references on this subject are currently limited. To gain a deeper understanding of the structural behavior of this connection type, the objective of this project is to investigate the shear transfer mechanism of precast small beams through structural experiments, and, based on the experimental results, to provide thorough design and construction recommendations to improve the performance of precast small beam-to-main beam connections in engineering practice.
The expected outcomes of this project will include experimental data and design methods for precast small beam-to-main beam and KT slab-to-beam connections, as well as an experimental research report.
